Long Time, No Blog

I know, I know. It's been bugging you not knowing what Kattina (my 70 shadow priest) has been up to lately. Well, for the last few weeks we've been raiding Karazhan 3 days a week, doing arena, and running the cooking dailies.

Last weekend, finally, we totally cleared Kara (and it only took 2 gaming sessions). I was so proud of us. We've come so far since the early days when we'd wipe on Moroes and Maiden was impossible. The last boss to hold out on us - Netherspite, but we finally got it down and did the beam dance to good effect. I guess we're looking to Zul'Aman next. Yummy troll goodness and my hopes for Mojo the pet...

Last night we were doing our 5v5 arena. For anyone that cares to look us up, we're Squishies of Doom (on Proudmoore). Our last bout was the strangest I've ever experienced. It was a hard fight, but we finally dropped the fourth man of the other team (me and our holy priest were casualties, unfortunately). The weirdness starts in that their resto shammie had been feared through the back wall of their starting area. He was alive, outside the arena, but still listed as alive and in the game. WTF? We couldn't reach him from inside. As the minutes ticked by we realize, this guy is trying to wait us out. He's hoping we get bored and exit so his team will win by default. But no - not us. We don't give up. Even if it means being stupid tired the next day because we stayed up too late. (To be fair, the 16 points from the bout put us over the top into the next overall ranking range.) Our ever crafty druid tank found a way to jump up! the pillar and eventally got over the walls of the arena to the netherplane where this other guy was hanging out. A 20 minute chase ensued. It wouldn't have taken so long if the other guy would have stayed and fought, but he took off on his mount and just ran around. After much entreties, shouts and mutterings, finally, finally - this guy afks out and allows the bout to end. Yes, I stayed up past 1am on a work night for a lousy 16 points of arena rank. And damn did it feel good.

Falkon's Journal

Aug 30, 2007
First Entry

I have been Falkon a long time. Falkon walked out of the forests around Holtburg when Dereth was young and eventually made his way to Eastham. In Eastham with a small group of close friends, Falkon helped establish The Butte Rangers. The group roamed far and wide but always had a connection to Eastham and the buttes to the west of town, beyond the pit of the old volcano.

Time passed and the people of Dereth moved into shelters. In time, Falkon left the shelters and wandered into what was left of Arwic but things were too different, too strange and Dereth never felt like home again.

For a time, Falkon searched for adventure in the stars. He again found old friends and formed the Butte Rangers and eventually helped to build a small town with its own spaceport on the plains north of Theed on Naboo. But things changed and he left.

Closing in on 70

Lexdivinia is halfway through 68... The sad part is that everyone else is already 70. They are in raids and I am still just trying to find friends to quest with. The good news is that it won't be much longer before I am able to raid with them! They are in need of my exquisite warlock skills! Muahahahaaa... O.o

Most recently...
I entered Netherstorm last night and fell in love with the Bio-Dome.
Walking Bessy around while she mooooo'ed was fun too!

I am pretty sure I am going to find myself in the Battlegrounds soon as the urge to wipe the grins from the faces of the Horde is building.

Windows Patch that is related to WoW

I missed this out in my usual reading materials on WoW games. And by the sounds of it, it looks to be a serious keylogging issue. Although note that it is only one way a keyloogger could get hold of your account, according to Drysc.

So, fellow WoW players, please ensure that your Windows is patched up to the latest version. And for those not using the original Windows, might be a good idea to get a legit version to save you all the worries of keylogging.

Need for speed

Here's a really good forum read on your PC having enough resources to actually run MMOGs (multimassive online games). Well, it's specifically writing in the WoW Official Forums but it does apply to all other games as well.

But how does one go about checking if there's enough memory and processor power to go around anyways? These days, it's critical to have antivirus and firewall running up at the same time. And what about those essential Windows programs that needs to be running anyway. Looks like it's easy to go over the recommended limit of 30 programs at any one time.

Solution is more memory and/or processor power. Even then it doesn't solve longterm problem of different developers writing out necessary programs. Would have thought the OS developer would be the one to look into this. I mean, come on. Not everyone wants to pay expensive PC prices for hardware upgrades to run your OS and yet not being able to enjoy everything else. That's basically for all OS. Bringing the digital world into your living room isn't as easy as it sounds until it becomes more resource efficient and less costly too.

In the meantime, I'm going to stick to my old OS and current PC settings. Too many potential problems still happening while playing WoW that it's not much point to upgrade up until it's more stable.

Never Play on Patch Day...

We used to say that on Horizons. I'm thinking it might apply to WoW too.

Once I finally got logged in, pretty much nothing was working right. I couldn't get my kitty out of her carrier. I pulled up my alchemy forms to make a potion. It took a while for them to load, but once they did load it wouldn't make anything. It made the noise, and I appeared to be busily working away, but it would never make anything. My cooking forumlas were worse. The list was out of order. Many things were missing. I had about eight listings for seasoned wolf kabobs. No NPC but the banker would talk to me. I tried to relog but once out I couldn't get back in. Bleh. I'll try again today and hope things are running smoother.

Painful Patching

Looks like a dozen of bugs cropped up during this patch. It was so bad to the point that there was a problem with Aman'Thul. All the Aman'Thul players went over to Dath'Remar to wait out the time it took for Blizzard to fix it.

I've never seen the Northshire Abbey that full before. It was completely filled with Aman'Thul players. Well, for about 15-20 mins. After that, we all hike ourselves back to Aman'Thul.

As for Addons, the only ones that I could get to work was Titan, Decursive Alpha, EquipRack.

WoW Drama ~ Blizzard Style

1. Patch downloaded and installed.

2. Server time extended.

3. Servers up but without arenas.

4. Hotfix for bag bank slots being applied as we speak. Servers are down for 15 min.

So, I'm out here waiting for the hotfix to be applied. Although, one of my friends was screaming, "Mangled is to die for! I'm not changing to a resto druid after this!" He just made 800 crit.
