The Art of Skinning.
I finally decided to retrain one of my two primary tradeskills on Damsine (my hunter.)She had tailoring and enchanting but I was getting no where fast with the enchanting skill. Part of the problem with enchanting is disenchanting green, blue, and purple value items for their components. Your blowing a potential sale with those items, but you need the enchanted ingrediants from those same items for enchantment purposes.
Gold is a premium with me, and selling the colored items means more to me then disenchanting them. Tailoring is a different story as you can farm for your materials, and not have to blow them up to get the components. So I took skinning to sell in the auction house. All trade skills max out at 375 skill level, but being level 70 has its advantages when advancing to the capped level requirement.
What I did was keep all my kills in the orange range so I could progress faster then what would normally take a longer time if the animals I skinned were in the green range, Which is a current problem with Nordi, (my rouge.) He is level 36 and has the leatherworking tradeskill as well as skinning. This makes him some what versital as he can make leather items from what he farms, but all of his skinning is in the green range causing him to kill 10 animals per a one point increase in his skinning.
Damsine on the other just followed the levels of the animals and stayed in the orange range killing only four animals per one point increase. This got him to 351 points last night out of 375 points. This was in three days of playing two hours a day! Selling the stuff on the auction house has been lucrative as I sell at lower prices then the competition.
That's a whole other story, by the way. As I feel that prices are outrageous for a lot of the items the sell on AH. Some might say that I'm undermining the economy, but I look at this way. If you sell at a fair price you tend to have the items sell faster then waiting for hours to pass and hope they will be interested enough to part with the hard earned coinage. In either case I saw a big increase in my pocket book after switching to the skinning tradeskill.
