As probably most of you that have any interest in WoW already know, the new patch 2.4 went live yesterday.
One of the first things I noticed is the wide spread abuse of being able to link abilities and spells in chat. Leave it to the players to find every possible rude or sexually suggestive way to use this new feature in conversation.
I deleted a bunch of older quests that I don't intend to finish at this time (pre-BC stuff I was messing around with) so that I'd have room for the new quests.
I went out to Silmyr Lake to get the new fishing daily. The first thing that gentleman had me do is go to Stormwind and fish a baby crocolisk out of the canals. That one was pretty easy. It only took about 10 casts to get it. On the return I got a random back of goodies plus some cash. I have 2 new potions of waterwalking and I got a sharp fillet knife that vendored for just over 4g. I can't wait to see what he wants next.
Some of the initial Sunwell quests had me collecting materials in the Outlands. I had to collect this nether residue through mining - which took an absurdly long time. I also had to kill Sunfury elves in Netherstorm until someone dropped their secret battle plans. That part I enjoyed quite a bit. I've never seen so much blood elf carnage at one time before. Both of these quests are dailies.
I had a few one time quests sending me to talk to folks at the new island - no I can't spell it. Let's call it Sunwell island. I portaled to Ironforge and then took a gryphon to 'Sunwell Island'.
The place was mobbed and there was definitely mass confusion. It totally felt like being dropped into the middle of a war zone. My husband and I did the first couple of modified kill quests and wandered around the city a bit. We still have to do Magister's Terrace and find this missing magister for another quest. We have no idea what we're doing, but I'm enjoying seeing and doing new things. With so many current instances, everybody knows which pulls in which order and everything is very scripted. Now we need to figure it out as we go along.
Let's see, what else. The quartermasters have some new rep items you can buy - at least some of them do. I'm hoping that at some point we can get to the new place without going to Ironforge first. I'm also hoping I find stuff in the new place that drops the motes I need for my cloth runs. I did get 2 motes of mana off of something, but I had 2 bodies there and am not quite sure which one dropped it. Oh well.
All in all, I'm excited about the new patch and so far having a good time. I will ignore my lonely alts for now as I explore the new stuff.
