You know, when I started playing an online golfing game, I thought to myself "Oh, how hard can this really be"? When I saw that the interface is basically to click at the right moment, I figured it was even easier.
Man was I wrong!! This game is hard, folks. Not hard in the way that playing real golf well is hard, of course, but still more challenging than I'd expect.
And what is even more amazing to me is that just like a fantasy roleplaying MOG, it has some majorly frustrating moments where I blame the game for my mistakes, not my own bad play.
Take last night for example. I was playing along and didn't notice that my fatigue had started to rise. Now it wasn't very high or anything, but apparently it was high enough to take what I thought of as just a small mistake and turn it "deadly". Well, as deadly as an online golf game can get, at least. I made the same exact mistake twice, shooting the ball right out of bounds, before I realized that the combination of my fatigue level and the wind blowing against me meant that I had to over compensate for my own bad shot.
So let this be a lesson to all you "real" gamers out there who might scoff at the thought of playing an online golf game. You get just as involved in your character and in leveling, loot, and avoiding errors as you do in any fantasy based MMORPG... least I know I have.
*walks off muttering about the blasted wind speed needing to be nerfed*
