Something has happened to Atys, some dark force is scaring these beautiful lands. Hug your friends and family before you investigate, it could the last time you can. Some mysterious power has taken control over the green planet. How long will your world be under their control? Are you homin enough to make a difference?
This was the warning given me by the guards as I ventured out of Fairhaven during the season known colloquially as slaughter week.

As you can see, when the sun set and the... err... moon... came up, it was a bit odd. That gave me a bit of pause, but I figured if that was the worst that I ran into around Fairhaven, I could proceed with my hunting plans as scheduled. Alas, I was wrong.

On the beach just south east of Fairhaven, I ran into a group of Kitin of the Depths that would be just about the limit I could handle singly, but they are fast, furious, and attack as a trio. Still, being a bit away from the water, I did my best to beat them off, knowing that maybe I could take out one and make the area a bit safer for those less experienced than myself (not that there are many all that less experienced in combat around, but there are some).

However, as expected, they were a bit more than I could handle. When I respawned in Fairhaven, I rested up for a bit, regrouped mentally, and headed out again, being cautious to avoid the area with the three kipesta that killed me. Seeking some revenge, I decided to go take out some kipee, and I was chugging along when a trio of kipee Kitin of the Depths snuck up behind me. I took off for the water, and barely made it there.
As I treaded water, I contemplated the words of the guard at the beginning of the evening. I swam back to Fairhaven, got my pick out of storage, and went foraging around Fairhaven.
