Politics, politics, politics!

Here's a political update on the various conflicts and the Justicar's office for the lovely 101 server I call home.

The major war that is raging right now is Reincarnates (Reins) fighting Ancient Dawn (AD). It's been going on for a few months now, with a combined kill count wayyyyy over 100 people, a really good pace. The war goes back and forth, with both guilds declining and expanding. I'm not part of this war, so I dont have alot of details, but of course, a conflict of this scale involves pretty much everyone.

I am in PeaceBringers (PB), a neutral guild. We don't participate in the war, but both sides feel the need to attack us. It's a pecking order it seems, AD and Reins fight each other, but if one side isn't online, the side that is online attacks us with their murderers. We had some bad times with both guilds using their reds to attack us, but we've been able to put our differences aside with AD. That allowed us to pool our votes together and win the Justicar's office, preventing Reins' murderers free... reign... over ourselves and many other unaligned people on the server.

As it stands now, we've been able to broker a good deal of peace for our members, since we have a truce with AD and Reins' ability to PK has lessened. We let the loud ones battle it out til their brains hurt, while we play our own game :)

Skills > Classes 2

Here's a character concept I've dreamed up but have yet to build (and may never, since im a casual gamer). Once again, I want to illustrate the fact that building a character from a skill-based system lends itself towards creativety, originality, and mitigates the whole treadmill issue since you are creating, not duplicating.

This might be a long one...

New threads

Let me begin this contest month with a shot of Molly with her new guild shield and matching love robe ;)

I need to get an isignia on that shield still. That means dedicating it to a particular God to give me a bonus to cast his wonderful array of spells, most likely the skull insignia of Qor when I get the chance. Yes, Im glowing blue, but not because Im sad. The photographer must of had a lens flare or something... :) Or as my good friend put it:

Sven sends, "†±( Peåce ßrïngêrs )±† :O;-): § O:-))))) you are an irridescent personality

Loqieu and I have been MIA for a while, both in game and in blog as it seems. We're both in the same guild now, the Peace Bringers as seen above in the tag. Hopefully, I can get us both to post more now that there's a contest. So all and all, A good month. I've barely played, but have been played a compliment and recieved a nice shiny guild shield to proudly displayed until I die horribly.

The second coming of Loqieu….or is this the fourth time?

Yes, it’s none other! I’m back...again! It’s been a grueling two and a half months at my new job, but over the past two weeks I was able to pry myself away from work just long enough to start playing Meridian again. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to write up another post, but when the needs of real life beckon, dealing with spells and PKs takes a backseat.

But now that I am back, it’s given me a nice perspective to appreciate that people really are into the game and spend a lot of time on it. Everything seems like I left it. AD and Reins are still at war. My guild, the Peace Bringers, is still around, so no problems there. It looks like we’ve been hit pretty hard by PKs attacking us. I noticed the population dipped slightly, so it’s not a surprised that people would turn their attention to use once they have no one else to fight.

RPGClass Quiz 2!

Yar!

Arcane Trickster

40% Combativeness, 60% Sneakiness, 64% Intellect, 19% Spirituality

Brilliant and sneaky: You are an Arcane Trickster!

Score! You have a prestige class. A prestige class can only be taken after you've fulfilled certain requirements. This may mean that you're an exceptionally talented person, but it probably doesn't.
Arcane Tricksters combine arcane magic with rogue skills and sensibilities. They use their magic to confuse their opponents or to augment their more mundane, roguish skills. If you thought it was annoying keeping an eye that that rogue, the Arcane Trickster is probably picking your pocket from the other side of the room.
Both smart and sneaky, you're probably the type of person that loves planning practical jokes... either that or knocking over banks.

M59 Meme

1. Name 3 good things about the game you're playing.

a) Skill based game versus class based, making characters actually stimulates the brain.

b) Player accountability with the community, but that effect sometimes becomes negative, but is always interesting.

c) Open PvP. It can be harsh, but it keeps the blood pumping.

2. What is your in-game pet peeve?

Everyone wants to fight in Tos, the central city in the game. But if we spread ourselves out, we'd have less problems with interference in our fights. Yet for some reason we still cluster around certain spots and wonder why every fight attracts a crowd.

3. I dare you to tell me your most embarrassing moment!

When I died to a baby spider. Actually, it was a PvP fight and the other player had me beat, but the spider got the kill shot on me as it wandered by, so the server got a nice broadcast of ###Black Molly has been killed by a baby spider.

4. What do you think could be improve?

I dont think the Devs really need to do much of anything to 'improve' the game. At this point in the game's life, the only changes need to be done by the community. Most of the people who like to grief in this game could be ostracized and that would effectively eliminate them from the community. If no one was willing to interact with them, they wouldn't be able to PvP without becoming a murderer. And since they are pariahs, they would not recieve pardons and no one would trade with any of their alternate characters who might not be murderers. They'd essentially be driven off the server. And this isn't used in a bad way, to punish people or an ability wielded by the largest guild. For the effect to work, it would take 95% of the server, and there are only 2-3 assholes that 95% of the server agrees should go. Unfortunetly, most people think they can eliminate the griefers by fighting them, but that is what they want; attention.

This is a unique position for M59, that the player's hold enough sway over the game, I imagine similiar to ATITD, but I've never played in Egypt.

And I tag Loqieu if he hasn't been tagged already :)
