Antonio

Antonio repaired the belt and gave me a small NCU unit to go in it, it was a two slot version and combined with my innate ability gave sufficent memory to run the basic defensive shields I found for sale in a jukebox like vending machine behind him. I spoke to the Omni-Tek (OT) Recruiter nearby and it seems my paperwork was lost in the crash, so I needed to sign up again (Or I could have stayed neutral, or even joined the clans). Since OT vendors pay more for the junk we unload on them I stuck with them and filled out the new form.

The Dockworker

Adri (obviously) had a couple tasks he needed help with, one involved collecting weapon upgrade parts many of which I already had on me, the rest were on the robots on the dock. The second task was killing more robots including the 'boss' robots. I found these extremely easy even with my basic knives, and Adri upgraded one for giving him the parts. (I used an extra leet spine to upgrade my other knife using a nano factory from the vendor Brandon sent me to later) The reward for the robot boss quest was a backpack, quite handy as I was often running out of space before running to the vendor and selling the junk. Finally I went to Antonio Stacklund the vendor that Brandon sent me to before I got sidetracked.

High Tech Adventure awaits

Mimry the Adventurer, thats my title here (Adventuress means something completely different for some odd reason). I was recruited to come to this frontier world of Rubi-Ka (Rk1-Atlantean) by Omni-Tek, Lured with the usual promises of wealth and power, however today doesn't seem to be an auspicous day as the shuttle carrying me to my new home crashed about 200m short of the landing pad.

Luckily I survived, there's a Dr Brandon Thorne on the beach who seemed to think this kind of thing happens all the time... A pretty suspicous character to be sure. He did however grant me a level-up on speaking to him for the trouble I had, then set a few easy tasks to get me aquainted with my new home, target each of four critters, then go back and kill one of each. He also gave me a little starting equipment a pair of pistols, knives and a single 'Quick heal' Nano. After finishing his tasks he sent me inland to a vendor who could repair a nano control unit belt which will let me keep more nano formulas running at once.

Lost Eden still lost?

Bought the expansion the other day and right away I was able to add research trees to my xp grind. New abilities, and boosts to stats for each line, and (of course) more time spent learning them.

For my engineer (the Level 60 temple twink who may never reach 61) it was great, popped out the best robot she can self cast and let pet hunt legos and Lien till I maxxed the 10 trees at third level each (they are each 10 levels long, but locked to your level so you can't get L4 researches at level 60, next is at 75 I think)

Now comes the odd part... I couldn't find the LE mission area... There seems to be little documentation on it, and what there was wasnt too clear. Since I've never visited the Alien Play Field (APF: Level 180+ alien raid zone) I didn't know where that was or how to use the 'beacon' north of ICC.

Directions:

Whompah to ICC from Rome, Tir, Newland (etc...)

Follow the tunnel north from the cavern

There's a Landing pad to the north, head there.
on the north edge of the landing pad there's a tower with a blue ring pinging on the ground beside it. Stand in the ring till the shuttle arrives and you get warped to the staging area.

At the base of the ramp & stairs is the APF and LE mission recruiters. You will need to be in a team for the LE mission recruiter to give you a job (I don't know about the other, I think you have to be 180+ or so to get work from him).

On the Level 60 engineer I got a wrangle to get my best possible bot out (Level 131) and teamed with a non expansion character to qualify to pull a mission. The mobs inside (I selected easy mission!) were surprisingly tough, and the boss at the end repeatedly punched my ticket to reclaim. I did get decent alien XP from the aliens in the mission, but (In my opinion at least) a twinked character like that should not be so easily killed in an 'Easy' mission. This character easliy solos Level 80 team missions in regular Rubi-Ka (RK) content.

Haven't found the Battle-Station sign up device for my level yet either, I did find one for level <30 (I think it was) but when I hit it with a character in the right level range the character stayed 'in queue' for hours. (you need several characters of the same level range and both sides before a battlestation will start)

Next up: MP or False MP?

Adventure Awaits

Made a froob Adventurer today, surprisingly powerful on the newbie island. You have heals, decent ranged (pistol) or melee (1 hand edged) combat, and armor shields and damage shields. At level 2 I solo'd a miniboss easily with melee swords. I ran into some trouble however doing the ICC Bio Inspector's quests. He asks you to inspect each of the five minibosses, but the roller-rat boss was stuck inside a wall. After about an hour (trading off with others to watch for the spawn to appear) I /petitioned the problem to get an ARK (Advisor of Rubi-Ka) to help. That took another hour, with over 30 min of that being next in the queue (zero people ahead of me). Once the ARK arrived he looked for the mob, then called in a senior ARK who found it inside the wall and killed it so it would respawn properly (then we could finish the quest). Quite the hassle, but satisfactory help once it arrived.

While waiting (& trading off with another person watching the spawn point) I had lots of time to complete the rest of the newbie island quests, getting my armor, upgraded weapons, and the backpack. Then back to the spawn to watch while he did the same. would have taken about 2 hours to reach level ten and complete all the quests I estimate if it wasn't for the snag. That is the fastest I've done it yet with any class.

Going to head to the mainland next and continue the character. I want to see what she can do against the dyna camps around Omni forest...

Aside from that I did get a newer used car. Not as nice as my old one I think, but newer, and looks sportier and ... standard transmition... (I didn't realize they still made those?!?) Probably going to head on over to Vangard to check out their game & see if its worth playing.

AO LE

I had this nice long blog about the LE expansion from a froob's perspective, but a small spelling mistake (less than symbol in a description) caused the parser to chew it up & ask me to correct it, then on going back, the box was blank... finally I realize I forgot to cut/paste a copy to my saved blog file. lol, thats life right? Anyway, ...

So lost Eden is live, I was running around the wilderness near the temple of the three winds and I saw my first SAM missile tower, pretty neat. It didn't fire at me or anything so they're most likely only active during tower battles.

Speaking of which, Notum Wars has been added to the free players arsenal. This allows players to plant semi-permanent towers that give them a boost to skills (determined by tower type). Towers last until some player destroys them in a PvP action against your org, and the times they can be attacked follow a long cycle that can be planned on by anyone interested enough to schedule them out. I mostly just pop into the tower shop and buy a basic tower then place it wherever I can squeeze it in at the org's notum field. There is a limit to how many towers you can have, and to how close together you can place them, as well as the size of the field you get to place them on so it is hard to determine just where you can and cannot place your tower.

I'm still rather annoyed with the new camera though, too wobbly because it follows the random movements of your avatar's head. The forums are rife with complaints of "sea-sickness". Hopefully this new camera style will have an on/off switch installed soon.

More ways to screw up...

So I decided to use my Shadowlands key last night. I went to the web page, clicked on My Account...

...and waited...

...and waited...

The site was very, very slow. Finally I just went to log in, and in the login process there was an option to type it in, so I did. I didn't see any change on newbie island though.

So I ran around and basically leveled. I fought some aliens. I fought some critters. I upgraded my gun. Then I decided to join Omni-Tek. I upgraded my armor and went to load the newbie maps.

And couldn't.

Because I'd loaded the neutral maps.

Oops.

With no way to unload them, I'm stuck running around the new areas on Rubi-ka with no maps. Very frustrating.

Fortunately though the people in game are very helpful, and I've managed to find where I've needed to go. I ran a couple of missions, and ran into a mob called "Mr. Pumpkinhead" who I avoided.
