Lost Eden still lost?

Bought the expansion the other day and right away I was able to add research trees to my xp grind. New abilities, and boosts to stats for each line, and (of course) more time spent learning them.

For my engineer (the Level 60 temple twink who may never reach 61) it was great, popped out the best robot she can self cast and let pet hunt legos and Lien till I maxxed the 10 trees at third level each (they are each 10 levels long, but locked to your level so you can't get L4 researches at level 60, next is at 75 I think)

Now comes the odd part... I couldn't find the LE mission area... There seems to be little documentation on it, and what there was wasnt too clear. Since I've never visited the Alien Play Field (APF: Level 180+ alien raid zone) I didn't know where that was or how to use the 'beacon' north of ICC.

Directions:

Whompah to ICC from Rome, Tir, Newland (etc...)

Follow the tunnel north from the cavern

There's a Landing pad to the north, head there.
on the north edge of the landing pad there's a tower with a blue ring pinging on the ground beside it. Stand in the ring till the shuttle arrives and you get warped to the staging area.

At the base of the ramp & stairs is the APF and LE mission recruiters. You will need to be in a team for the LE mission recruiter to give you a job (I don't know about the other, I think you have to be 180+ or so to get work from him).

On the Level 60 engineer I got a wrangle to get my best possible bot out (Level 131) and teamed with a non expansion character to qualify to pull a mission. The mobs inside (I selected easy mission!) were surprisingly tough, and the boss at the end repeatedly punched my ticket to reclaim. I did get decent alien XP from the aliens in the mission, but (In my opinion at least) a twinked character like that should not be so easily killed in an 'Easy' mission. This character easliy solos Level 80 team missions in regular Rubi-Ka (RK) content.

Haven't found the Battle-Station sign up device for my level yet either, I did find one for level <30 (I think it was) but when I hit it with a character in the right level range the character stayed 'in queue' for hours. (you need several characters of the same level range and both sides before a battlestation will start)

Next up: MP or False MP?

I thought I Said that?

Upgrading a computer is always fun, really... Though there is a rule somewhere that you will always forget to back up something and remember what it was after clearing tho old drive. I think it was written by a friend of Murphy. ^_^ There was more than a couple entries I'd intended to post in that category. :-/

Anyways, Went back to playing Mimoraygent wo was around level 16 when we left off. I managed to get through the subway with just the starter armor and the 3 pieces of living cyber armor from there.

Most of Mimray's time in Sub was spent solo, at these levels as an agent in newbie armor, and a poor weapon (Chimerae rifle from Jobe) it is a little tough. I didn't maximize stealth which would have made doing tough missions for upgraded stuff much easier, instead I focused on nanoskills which will be important from level 25-60+ later on (False profession line).

I did keep rifle, Aimed Shot, Computer Lit, Treatment skills, and all attributes maxed though.

I've said before that the subway is a great place to meet people, and it is. I just seemed to run into the silent types while levelling 17-25. The last 'silent' type even ran to the big end boss and dragged him over to let him say 'Hi' instead. The world has all types right? Well that was the end of Subway for Mimray, as L25+ are locked out. So I headed over to "The Temple of Train Wrecks" (sometimes formally called Temple of the Three Winds).

Dyna camped

Dyna camped

It has been awhile since I played, what with the car I bought to replace the one that was in an accident dying after three days (engine completely seized up due to a faulty oil circulation valve). Let me advise anyone in Ontario that we do not have a 'Lemon Law' and it is buyer beware for used cars. Luckily I had bought a 3rd party warranty that covered the replacement engine, and I found someone that wanted to buy the car with a rebuilt engine. Meanwhile I'd needed to buy another car as there is no bus service between where I live and work. Thankfully the last car is running well despite the hassles I had. Now back to the Blog. =)

The Dyna camps around omni forest were camped pretty constantly when I was there, a level 75 character running a route from camp to camp, killing just the boss, looting & running to next one without saying anything (even when I was fighting the minions, or the boss!), there wouldn't have been any experience in it for him, and I never saw any loot that was worth auctioning.

Bored, I went back to the Subway. The dungeons like Subway and TotTW are usually pretty packed and its easy to find a group at any level. The Subway is a great place for level <25 characters, theres lots of things to fight, it is level locked so high level characters can't get in and hog all the boss fights for the loot, but it's almost as monotonous as running mission after mission for your token grind. The token grind for those that haven't played AO is to improve your neck wear item the 'token board' that records how many missions you've completed for omni where you killed all the mobs inside.

Agent Entry 16 - Decisions

I decided not to pre-order Lost Eden, mostly because I dislike PvP. Ok, Ok, Mostly because I'm a PvP noob and would probably get my reclaim train ticket punched so fast and often trying to learn that I'd be a laughing stock. Really the only experience I have in PvP in AO is defending a tower site when our org was attacked. I did manage to kill someone close to my level (60 at the time), then another attacker 7 levels higher than I found my level 60 Shadowlands enabled engineer (alpha strikes hurt when your a nanomage :P).

Lately I've been playing a froob engineer, thanks to the buffs (nano skill mastery buffs) from my froob MP, and good implants, I can put out a bot about 15-20 levels higher than me. This makes the temple of the three winds alot of fun for a pet class, just target mob, tell pet to kill it. Then laugh as the mob tries to run past pet to get to you, gets hit from behind and turns to attack pet, decides pet is to scary and tries to get to you again, dies at your feet for easy looting (helped along by a quick shot or two from your pistols of course! ;) ). Just got to level 57 with this character after I found a good team last night in TottW then the team decided to go run a few missions since we were so smoking and Lien was so slow to show his face hehe.

Finally, my blogs may be more rare than usual as I was involved in a car accident, no serious injuries, but I have to find a new car & all that stuff.

Take care, and enjoy whatever game you play.

AO LE

I had this nice long blog about the LE expansion from a froob's perspective, but a small spelling mistake (less than symbol in a description) caused the parser to chew it up & ask me to correct it, then on going back, the box was blank... finally I realize I forgot to cut/paste a copy to my saved blog file. lol, thats life right? Anyway, ...

So lost Eden is live, I was running around the wilderness near the temple of the three winds and I saw my first SAM missile tower, pretty neat. It didn't fire at me or anything so they're most likely only active during tower battles.

Speaking of which, Notum Wars has been added to the free players arsenal. This allows players to plant semi-permanent towers that give them a boost to skills (determined by tower type). Towers last until some player destroys them in a PvP action against your org, and the times they can be attacked follow a long cycle that can be planned on by anyone interested enough to schedule them out. I mostly just pop into the tower shop and buy a basic tower then place it wherever I can squeeze it in at the org's notum field. There is a limit to how many towers you can have, and to how close together you can place them, as well as the size of the field you get to place them on so it is hard to determine just where you can and cannot place your tower.

I'm still rather annoyed with the new camera though, too wobbly because it follows the random movements of your avatar's head. The forums are rife with complaints of "sea-sickness". Hopefully this new camera style will have an on/off switch installed soon.

Agent Entry 7 - Subway

Next stop is the Subway usually. It is a good hangout till level 25 and there are a few things it is nice to get from there. Living Cyber armor gloves, legs, and helmet drop in there and despite the "holes" to certain attacks it is handy as it levels with you up to around L45 or so (armor goes to QL50) From the big boss at the end is a ring called Juggler's treat which adds 10 to dual wield (ranged & melee) for those using dual weapons, and a ring that adds NCU but needs lots of treatment skill. The best thing about this ring is that it levels with you based on your treatment skill.

Morphing memories are available from the robots here, fit deck slot one (only) and add NCU and Nano resist. A morphing memory improves when your complit (computer literacy or CL) skill(and Psychic stat) go up and you right click the memory, which is great when you can't find the right QL of NCU in the shop to give you lots of nano control units to run your buffs in. For engineers there's construction sleeves that add a bit to their tradeskills, and the same boss sometimes drops boots of infinite speed. The boots are clickable from inventory and put a 40 point run speed buff on you which is 10 points better than the general run buff 'Quickness'. (The adventurer class gets this nano formula normally)

If AA was a paid character, then after leaving ICC Island I'd head to Jobe to do the starter area quests there & get whatever Shadowlands gear I could (especially Symbiotes). However as a Froob AA has none of that so Subway it is (or would be).

Feel free to page me in game, /tell mimmorie (or agentargent) and even if offline your message will show up when I login and I can reply to your questions. I even have a few newcomer island characters storing +1 (damagetype) rings & stuff that doesn't drop there any more. (though money is much easier to get)
