Argh....
Ok. So I've been trying desperately to play this game, keeping in mind that it is still a beta.
I've got to admit I'm very spoiled in the MMORPG genre and a great UI is a must for me. Well, this game just doesn't have it yet. Horrid UI is one of the main reasons I just couldn't get into FFXI. I just couldn't understand why on earth a gaming company would throw all typical keyboard layouts to the wind and come up with something that only a hard core console gamer could understand. But I digress.
Irth Online, although I'm still very intrigued by the "no grind" game play a la UO, is just leaving a bad taste in my mouth with the current UI design. All the left and right clicking just isn't intuitive and there are no standard buttons or key mappings for anything. You have to spend a good hour remapping the keyboard until it is some semblance of what you are used to. Additionally, the town that I have started in has so many NPC's you damn near can't find anything that you are looking for. I've yet to find a stable master or whatever it's called so that I can get a horse and leave that godforsaken NPC wasteland. I think that's where they sent their NPC's to die or something. There's nothing to kill around there so why in the world would I want to stay. Most frustrating.....most frustrating indeed. Anywhoo....I'll read the message boards, get a world map (yea get that there is NO world map ingame *sigh*) and try again. Maybe I'll actually get my bow skillz up to 2...woohoo.
Yea I know this is quite random but frustration does that to me ![]()

Hi Diddly Ho Neighbor!
[end Ned Flanders voice]
Well Hello there!
I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself to those of you that read these blogs. My name is Kat and I'm [OMG] a GIRL GAMER! Yes that's right, I am in fact a girl and I play video games. All kinds of them actually. From beta testing XBox Live to being a CORE Beta tester for the Microsoft gaming group I'm one of those girls that could probably kick your ass at Halo if you aren't careful
But seriously, my passion has always been for the MOG, MMORPG, ORPG, [enter overused acronym here]. Basically online role-playing games.
I started out with Asheron's Call waaaaay back in 1998 and haven't looked back. Oh sure I played Wizzardry on my Apple IIc in college (did I just date myself? ha ha) as well as all the Zork games and even "Mystery House" for those that remember that one. But my passion was reignited with the pretty graphics and amazing gameplay of Turbine's maiden MMORPG voyage. I played for 3 straight years and never got bored. I never even got CLOSE to lvl 126. From there I went on to AC
ark Majesty, AC2, UO, AO, SWG, CoH and dabbled in DAoC, Lineage II and EQ2. (If you don't know what any of these are just ask and I'll let you know
) And in none of them did I get to the "end game" or burn out from overplaying. I'm just not a power gamer.
I like the story and the fun of it all much more than to plow through a million gromnies just so I can go to that "really cool place that everyone camps". I guess what I'm saying is that in my blogs you will find more humor and creativity than "OMG we went to MC, AGAIN." I like to explore strange areas and do weird things. That's just my style. And because I'm a gal, you'll get a very unique and different perspective on just about everything.
So I hope you read my rantings, ravings and ramblings and enjoy them. Hopefully I'll see you in game too! Feel free to e-mail me anytime. My "real" job is kind of boring sometimes so I can always get back to you ![]()
Thanks much!
Kat
