There are rivendale heralds located at strategic locations thoughout all the maps in the game. If you kill certain monsters that you get experience for you get ring fragments as loot. When you turn in the ring fragments you get a special faction turn in item to enhance your faction.

Additionally when the server gets 70,000 fragments turned in the fellowship of the ring will leave Rivendale. I guess the quests associated with helping the fellowship get ready for the trip after Rivendale will all become inactive once the fellowship leaves on their journey from Rivendale to where ever.

There used to be a quest where you could walk with Frodo and reassure him of the importance of his role in the quest and his safety in performing the task of carrying the ring to mount doom. You can no longer get this quest I believe.

The special ring fragments faction items come in a special box and are not bound to the character who gets them so that you can exchange the items with characters on your account or in your kinship to help them finish various faction quests.

Bree, Michael Delving, Rivendale, Tinnudir, Thorin's Hall, and Esteldin all have faction quests for the elves (Rivendale), men of bree, dwarves of thorins hall, the rangers of esteldin and the rangers of annimas (spelling -- how do you spell this?)

These quests start to kick in at level 29 for Michael Delving and then activate every few levels or so all the way up to arond 36 or 37. There must be other faction quests that I have not yet gotten to. Help me out by posting that information here.
